TL DR: Without informing me nor asking me, TeamSpeak have installed a weird, obscure 'social networking integration' client on my PC when I was expecting to get just TeamSpeak. The update that confirms that Overwolf WILL install itself to your computerĪnyone else had experience with this and know if it's safe, legit or just TS trying to push crapware upon you? Why the fuck did TeamSpeak make the decision to mandate the installation of this to users' PCs? The only other info I've found is from Lifehacker, who consider it some sort of Steam-like overlay that is supposedly less resource-intensive. I have asked others in my guild about it and they recommended I disable it via msconfig because it has very high memory usage, and according to a forum thread I found on Overwolf's official forums, it has been included with a bunch of other games too and is an utter bitch to uninstall. And then I saw a weird popup pointing from my taskbar informing me of the Overwolf overlay that had installed itself onto my PC without my knowledge or permission.ĪFAIK Overwolf is a free client that integrates social networking and application functionality with your games without the need to tab out. The install went swimmingly and I logged into my guild vent. So I downloaded it manually from the TS3 website. I attempted to auto-update my TS3 client (which has been outdated for about a year now) and the download failed due to a load of German error messages I could not understand. Today, I was going to access the TS channel of my guild but it required a newer version of Teamspeak 3.
